From the XOOPS Cube Roadmap -
引用:
This seams to be totaly wrong, XOOPS is created by Kazumi Ono, so XOOPS have to be forked, not Cube.
In the changelog of version 1.3.10 there is no Mithrandir (Ian Pederson touches to the code) exept few themes. (which are not available to download on the net).
How to explain the CHANGES.TXT from 1.3.10 with this Cube Roadmap to Bulgarian users ?
So u will told me, "look in the feature, it seems to be more bright..." yeah, yeah, what about the ppl questions ?
Current my explanation is based on some forum posts of catzwolf, others (currently cant remeber them) best XOOPS core developers, which are no more with XOOPS, on the changes.txt in last 5 releases in XOOPS 1.3.x tree, all changes till 2.0.7.3 and 2.0.9.x (xoops.org) compared to xoops 2.0.9.2JP-RC to the last 2.0.12JP (and the biggest scrap released from xoops.org - xoops-2.0.12 (live only 6 hours).
Taken from xoops.org forums, mambo forums, farsus (e-xoops/runcms community forums), h_xoops - (born dead another japanese fork) and a lot of more, even and Google.
So when the ppl read it, and ask me - Which one line is right ? What the hell I have to answer.
XOOPS Cube is a fork of XOOPS, XOOPS and XOOPS Cube are mostly the same (changing goverment), XOOPS is overtaken from Kazumi Ono by Ian Pederson, Kazumi decides (after bad dream) to leave development of XOOPS to Ian Pederson and after some months (another dream, this time good) decides to start forked XOOPS, or all of this answers are trew ?
Really disguisting line, that mess everything with XOOPS and Cube again ... :(

ep98, what is it that you would actually like to know? For us (at least for myself), whether XOOPS Cube is a fork or not and such does not really matter. XOOPS itself is a fork of myPHPNuke which is a fork of PHPNuke, and I am sure PHPNuke is also a fork of some other project that I don't remember right now.

I don't think there is no such thing as right or wrong here. Every project has dedicated developers working hard for their user community and it is completely up to you (and your users) which product you would like to support.

ep98,

I understand your feeling in some aspect. I heard some people had this kind of think.
It is true that Onokazu is main contributor to the XOOPS. On the other hand, he currently does not have any account to commit lines in major part of XOOPS (at xoops.org).
It may be possible that registrant Onokazu point www.xoops.org to his place and restart his administration. But it was not his choice. Why? I think it is because of his virtue and reason. If he retake control of www.xoops.org, there would be dirty dispute and confusion in the XOOPS world. If it happens, major damages and disadvantages would be on users of XOOPS.
I think it is not so important matter it's a forked version or not. It is important people use and develop it at ease. We just love to develop website or its systems, and just need some place to work together.

Re-take it or not, the dirty disputs are on the way all the time with this pseudo stable releases, with the changes to the 2.0 core and make it unuseable with the current modules resporsitry....
After the last relase of the stable 2.2.3 and later on named 2.2.3RC, I was trow it in the recycle bin (few months ago during some other tests, searches for XOOPS forks/clones I found XOOPS JP 2.0.9RC2 I think). And after some (small time) check I realize that works like the good old 2.0.7.3 times when the new releases not come in few hours..... Anyway, something happed and I delete it (JP XOOPS) and forgot for it, as leader of Global Translation & Localization Team I prepared a small "task" force, to provide Unicoded translations to XOOPS, in the beginning they are only two - Bulgarian and Indian (Gujarati), later on Spanish was added, French, Danish, Norwegian is on the way. Why Unicode ? Cos this is the only one way to main content in one site with more than one language.
After completing Danish or French translation (cant rember which one was first, comes a message (from my requests on sf.net) from few (some of them exellent) PHP Programmers, and the new "task" force was assigned to XOOPS -> SimpleMachines Forum Integration with XOOPS 2.2 core (unfortunately, after the dirty disputs, and fucking up with the xoops.org community after releasing 2.2.3 stable (currently (RC)) I was forced to freeze this project ... Anyway, it will be restarted mainly from scratch with SMF 1.1 and XOOPS Cube CVS when is published.
On 2005/08/26 when this Stable RC was released, and a lot of sites goes in hell, I (my bro's idea) released a downgrader (such as this one in NukeScripts.net) to downgrade from 2.2.3 to 2.2.2, and the ppl like love instead of the stable RC.
On this date too, we (GTLT) takes a little and friendly disscussion what will be after this release, to continue support Mith's Fork, to abandon XOOPS at all, and switch to something else, or to try another fork. And I suggest them, to give a try to this 2.0.9RC-JP version, which was 2.0.11 when this disturb happend on xoops.org and all of our community sites. And we decide, that everything will be done for XOOPSCube.org, all modules, core updates (if any comes to the further versions) in the language will be maintained by our team. Second to take this action was, the hard and unfriendly dissussion between me and Mithrandir, what was are the prons and cons of Unicode, so XOOPS Translations, was announced as unofficial, even that ppl prefer our translations and some of them are released on xoops.org, the team is still unofficial. No matter XOOPSCube.org will or not will officialize the team as translators/supporters, they (and me of course :)) will continue supporting this application.
Currently there is no difference reported from our users (more than 7800 only for the Spanish translation) that there is something not right between Mith's XOOPS 2.0.13.1 language files and XOOPS 2.0.12JP, so we continue in that allready structured way.
One of the important questions still remains, which hack have to be used with XOOPS 2.0 JP to maintain content in more than one language in one site and DB, such as Marcan's Smart Language ? But and in the way, that there is no such hack (module), translations will remain in Unicode.
Ayumi: U have to take the position PR in XOOPS JP, with this expirience in solving problems u will attract more than u can imagine followers, bad tongue, angry responses the one before yours are not well accepted somewhere :) Keep up good work.
p.s. One and most important cons of XOOPS is a lack of Multi Language compatiblity to the core....

Multi-language hack

Hi, ep98.
It's nice to hear from you again.
引用:
There are no official multi-language hack. But some people in Japan present hacks for multi language. For example,
The Easiest Multi-Language Hack (EMLH) (Only menu)
mlangmini for easiestml (Not only menu, but also language setting of the XOOPS)
It's nice to hear from you again.

Last Login 2002/8/25 19:16 - That not means with XOOPS
http://www.xoops.org/userinfo.php?uid=2283
So Catzwolf left XOOPS on 25.08.2002 19:16
It will be nice if he returns back from Mambo/Joomla to XOOPS, but I dont think so, if u are a little bit coder, and u compare xoops vs. mambo core, u will see the diference, once looks like islustrated book for kids, second ... nc (still XOOPER, cant say anything bad against it and this community specialy) :)

I've dont understand the objective of this auto-login hack yet, what does it means ?
from this ML hacks I've tried Marcan SL, and GiJoe's Xlanguage and I'm not happy with this ways of cheating.
Continue to search for something like PostNuke ML or Xaraya MLS, last is the best, also the way of editing themes, cooperation between modules but is very heavy, too complex and not still not useable
XOOPS lacks some features to be a number one choice for everything:
- Lack of documentation (no one know what and how this templates have to be edited/created/modified)
- Lack of documentation for this themes (XOOPS face is the same like PostNuke/Nuke/Fusion 6, left, right column and in the center selected module
- Lack of modules for few areas
- Lack of multi-language feature
- Lack of Unicode support
... and some others, but maybe XOOPS Cube will change that, I hope so :)
