why Portuguese br and Portuguese pt?

will be great just only one, like "portugues" (without the "e" 'cause a cultural problem: we 'hate' braSil with "z" and others Americanisms with 'our' culture like "portuguesE" (and I put quotes because we have people from all countries,.. ex: my old home inside the bigger Japanese community outside Japan ("bairro da Liberdade", in São Paulo).

"PortuguesE is used only for bussiness and to follow the Amway, but not for our own desire. Is just one letter, a small detail for the project but a big difference for us.

is just my opinion, as Brazilian and translator (first translator of that ware to Portuguese, first webmaster and translator of phpnuke to Portuguese, first webmaster and translator of postnuke to Portuguese, first webmaster and translator of xoops2 to Portuguese - just bla bla bla, I know).

Well, will be great know the point of view of Portugueses (from Portugal) about it.

I’m working in a program that can replace some words used only for people from Portugal like the translation of "files":

Brasil: "arquivos".
Portugal: "ficheiros".

Is simple to solve with scripts in php, lua, asm, python, ".exe"s, etc... and can be used to others languages, like Spanish / spañol, replacing somethings like: "tu" and "usted" (formal and informal way)...

for now, i'm renaming all translations "portugues.do.brasil" to "portugues" (without the 'e').

Ah! And there a problem with old file systems with large paths that cut the directories, and as result we have: "portugues.do.bra" (-'sil') and "thisismyfile.ph" (-'p') and "templates.tp" (- 't'), etc...

Thanks for your attention and for any idea for the best solution,

[]'s,

Mikhail.

(PS: please, these are just my opinions, my point of view that I write here to try to help the people, and not because I think that I'm the owner of the right way. I'm here to follow the Japanese standard, write opinions, and make my own desires in parallel projects, but never here. Before all, this is a Japanese project, and I respect and I really like this way to work).

As Lusitanian I've to agree, without any sort of nationalist intention, that will be great to get only one "portugues" version. I'm sure it will also simplify lusitanian as portuguese speaking people around the world in their all day life.

Cheers,

P.S. Talvez criar uma lista, arquivo ou ficheiro, com as diferentes expressões linguisticas. Por exemplo, comecei por considerar que um "arquivo" pode conter uma multitude de "pastas" que podem conter, por sua vez, multiplos "ficheiros".

Great!! Anow some sotes in portuguese, people! ;) :

Acho que será bom para todos, alguns pontos:
- "menos é mais": mais fácil de escrever, falar no dia-a-dia, pode incentivar as comunidades lusas, que estão muito paradas até agora (se for comparar com outros projetos; brasileiros poderão aproveitar o trabalho português, e vice-versa. Trabalhar com um diretórios únicos facilita a organização,...
